Ecuador living experience

After leaving the Super Learning Spanish school,so proficiently taught by Professor Steve, I was armed to take on two more weeks of travel in Ecuador on my own…or so I thought. Staff at El Meson secures Jorge, a local taxi driver to take me to Pinsaqui. He flags down an Express bus to Quito and I’m off. El Terminal in Quito has about 50 ticket booths (maybe more) like this;

I was off to the coast. First stop, Pedernales. Bus left at 11:30 sharp. (Observation) While everything seems to have a manaña feel about it, I found the long distance buses to be very prompt in there departure times. The bus had a baño and DVD player. Movie in espanol. Practice what we learn. Sharpen that ear.

As Le professor reminded us , we are chilitos learning a new language, here is my new teacher, who practiced language skills with me as we went down to road. Me… spanish, Maria..englais. Much fun.

In Pedernales,the mode of transportation changed.A local,who was riding in the seat behind me had befriended me and secured me a ride to my hotel in a taxi such as this:

Very charming and yet it gets the job done.

Down the road a little, my bag is strapped to a rack on the bike(behind the palm) with a split bike inner tube.

Down the road to Canoa..hotel Bambu..note my bag and the bicycle tire behind the palm tree..man pushing bike is obscuredl but he was a life saver.RULE #1Do not overpack!!!

The next mode of transport is the bicycleta taxi..shown here hauling my “hernia bag” from one hotel to another…

This cart also hauls the towns 50 gal drinking water containers.

We also have another form of transport,the water taxis that  cross the Rio Chone between San Vincente and Bahia de Caraquez.
