The Coast South of Manta

This area is potentially, one of the best places to speculate on rising beach property values. This is not my view but a conviction of several local real estate folks. It’s not hard to see why really. Manta is a booming town and it’s citizens are increasing in number and becoming wealthier by the year. The city is expanding tothe west and south because it can’t expand north, most of that land belongs to the Ecuadorian military. Also if you read my previous article on Manta property you’d have noticed that the beach gets pretty full. Having said that, I also believe that those seeking a quieter life away from the crowds will be drawn north to San Jacinto, San Clemente and potentially even up to Canoa if the new bridge at Bahia to cross the Chone River gets built.

Ecuador is full of micro climates and one such I saw was about 25 minutes south of Manta. Here I saw a finca maybe 2 miles inland from the beach but a delightful property.

Just a bit closer to Manta you wind along a fully paved road to another fine beach. A majestic long sweep from north to south. Already one or two foreigners are buying here including Tim who has bought half an acre and is building a 2,400 sq. feet house with two bedrooms with ocan views. Tim estimates the same house in California would cost nim $2 million upwards to construct but here in Ecuador he fully expects the final cost to come in at lower than $100,000. Tim will be enjoying beach living before this Christmas!

There’s certainly a lot more to explore down here south of Manta just as there is to the north of Manta too. Come and join us on our coastal real estate tour in March 2008.
