Thanks Gary for your insightful article.  I recently emailed another Cotacachi resident about the $139,000 San Miguel house raising the same issue.  I was told that the price was fair considering the size of the lot, the furniture and the size of the house.  I don’t agree with that assessment at all.  The house has only 2 bedrooms.  Most people buying a 2400 sf house expect at least 3 bedrooms or 2 bedrooms and an office.  I do want to point out, though, that the $65,000 house advertisement clearly says it is for a 1,000 sf home built on an 1100 sq meter lot.  I don’t think it is the same house being advertised twice.  If you look at the photo of the house, it is clearly much smaller than the $139,000 house.  Since all the homes in the development pretty much look the same, it’s easy to get confused!  As for the Ed Conley $99,000 house, I read that is has been reduced to $91,000.  We are visiting in October to look around with the intentions of buying.  Thanks for all your information!
