Ecuador Parades
Apr 27th, 2008 by SteveM
Ecuador parades can appear as if from nowhere. of course they need organising and a lot of planning but the delight is that for the spectator they seem so impromptu.
So it was on Friday. I had gone to Ibarra with our friend Lee to visit a new hospital and as we strolled through the central parks we learned that the crowds lining the street were waiting for yet another Ecuador parade.
This one was to celebrate the foundation of a school 50 years ago. As you will see from the video below, first come the dignataries accompanied bythe current ‘reina de Ibarra’ - beauty queen of Ibarra. Then for no apparent reason there are comic elements such as a Charlie Chaplin character who stood and posed for us. There were also dancing ghouls, majorettes, indigenous dancers, impressive floats and marching bands.
See this latest Ecuador parade in the video below. The quality is just “ok” - it will improve with practice. Enjoy!
