As we saw yesterday, Cotacachi hotels offer a wide variety of accomodation in this little village but one of our favorites is El Arbolito.

This Cotacachi hotel falls somewhere between a cheap backpackers hostel and a medium level hotel. It has been open for just 6 months and as it was quickly built by it’s Ecuadorian owner I couldn’t help but marvel at yet another example of the mini-construction boom going on in Cotacachi. The building went up in double-quick time and slowly but surely Cotacachi is expanding to meet the new demand for accomodation, both temporary and permanent.

The owner is friendly and as you walk in the entrance to this Cotacachi hotel is spotless - always a good sign I find.

The ground floor is made up of the lobby and a shop to rent plus a back door to a secure parking area. The rooms are upstairs leading off a spotless landing.

There is a choice of double or twin rooms. The single rooms cost $25 plus 22% government tax per night and have their own bathroom and tv and telephone.

Whereas the twin rooms of this Cotacachi hotel are the same but with two double beds and they cost $30 per night for the room plus tax.

Perhaps the best thing about El Arbolito along with the cleanliness and newness is the location.
It is right on the corner of the second square of Cotacachi, Plaza San Francisco. It is 5 blocks from Meson de las Flores whichis on the main square of Cotacachi, Plaza de La Matriz. These two Cotacachi hotels are ideally located yet offer totally different environments.
