Cotacachi real estate does include large homes too. There’s a variety of older fincas, some new fincas in an old style but also now one or two modern style large homes are starting to be built.

On our last real estate tour I took people out to see the house in the photos below. Everyone was impressed with the build quality and even though it’s not yet finished you get a sense of just what a wonderful home this is going to be; the owner-constructor will have a large family home to be proud of.

This is mostly a single story house. There is a small balcony and a room that may be used as a library or play room leading off the stairs …

But the main focus of the house is around a central area that is purely decorative but will lend a tremendous sense of space to the home. There are fireplaces in several rooms including the master bedroom.

The master bedroom of this large Cotacachi home is huge with an en-suite bathroom that is larger than a lot of bedrooms and then there’s a walk-in closet attached at which Imelda Marcus wouldn’t have turned her nose up.

The overall construction size is more than 5,000 square feet and with just 4 bedrooms you’ll not be surprised to know that each bedroom is large and has it’s own bathroom.

The construction cost of this large example of Cotacachi real estate is likely to be about $40-45 per square foot but this is using only the finest fittings, many imported directly from Colombia. Similar houses could be built for less if you’re prepared to compromise just a little on the fittings.

The colors that are being used are bold in places and pastel in other areas. I took the group here for then to see something different and many commented that they’d like to come back and see the house when it’s finished. I’m looking forward to a Cotacachi house-warming party … should be some party because they’ll need to invite quite a few guests to fill the house!

Perhaps there’ll throw the party during a tour of Cotacachi real estate – large homes like this will definitely feature on upcoming tours as and when they become available. Plus I’m always searching for the best plots of land where you might want to build a home and a selection of smaller homes and condos too.
