Cotacachi hotel information on hostels could be useful if you are on a very tight budget.

There are 3 hostels that are as cheap as you can get with great rates – if all you want to do is crash. Even then, one of the hotels is on the busist intersection in town (although busy is a relative term in Cotacachi) so expect some noise there. I personally think that if you are on a real tight budget then El Arbolito or Sumac Huasi would be better alternatives.

Hostal Munaylla

This Cotacachi hostel is very central, no doubting that. It is on the corner of 10 de Agosto and Sucre. As with all these hostels the rooms are clean and, I believe, relatively secure. The room rates here work out at $9 per room (no tax).

Hostal Tierra Mia

This Cotacachi hostel is run by a young couple. It’s located on Bolivar just to the north of 10 de Agosto and opposite Pinchavi shoe shop. It’s a little difficult to find and up two flights of stairs …

… but once you get there the owners are friendly, the rooms are clean and the prices are hard to argue with – $7 per night. They are very small and basic rooms though.

La Bachita

This Cotacachi hostel will put less of a dent in your wallet than any other. It’s family run and the young lady in charge does speak a little English learnt at university.

It’s located on Calle Sucre and Avenida Modesto Peñaherrera and is just 2 blocks from the center of town. They will provide a simple beakfast for an additional $1,50.

Staying at hostels can definitely stretch the budget when you are staying a longer period.
