Years ago when we began our Cotacachi real estate tours, our tour guide told us he wanted to start a real estate development. “Can I show the idea to the delegates” he asked. “Why not?” I thought.
I doubted it would be of interest. After all it was just an empty field. Yet that field was close to the hotel so after the normal tour… the guide took the group over in the tour bus. I did not even go along so severe were my doubts.

Malacatos, near Vilcabamba and Loja

Timbuktu is in the valley of Malacatos which is a valley that neighbors Vilcabamba, (10-15 minutes by car). The house is close to the village of Malacatos in the Landangui neighborhood in Loja Province.
