Ecuador shamans have taught us a lot about eras and war.

Yet much of their wisdom has been lost because the Spanish destroyed most of the Andean khipus (sometimes called talking knots) the recording devices used in the Inca Empire and its predecessor societies in the Andean region.  However we can look to Asia for confirmation of what the Andean shamans tell us about eras and war.

Inca Quipu

Picture of Andean quipu at the Blog cmuarch2013.wordpress.com/2009/07/01/dublin-and-quipu/inca_quipu/

The root of the Andean language Quichua is Sanskrit so the philosophies of India and the Andes are connected as are those of India….the Andes-China and Japan.

The shamans and yatchaks believe we are headed for a new era…. beginning somewhere between 2012 and 2016. There is quite some controversy about the exact dates.  We became to know because when we created a foundation to help the indigenous of Ecuador the Taita Yatchaks asked us to help them fulfill a task to bring secrets from the South to the North and to bring important knowledge from the North to the South.

The Yatchaks told us there was a 500 year old prophesy that states when the Eagle of the North and the Condor of the South flew in the skies together, a greater equilibrium would exist for mankind. They asked if we could help fulfill this prophesy.

To be part of a prophesy unveiled five hundred years ago is humbling at the least. Scary is probably a better word. Yet we felt compelled to accept and so with several friends, we started helping these healers meet people from the North and have been doing so for almost fifteen years.

The Yatchaks describe this 500 year era as one of confusion… when humanity is not seeing a very holistic picture.

We can see more about the era we have been in in the Asian texts as well.

Today’s message at garyascott.com Micro Business and War looks at how to use some of the wisdom from Sun Tsu’s Art of War to progress through the negativity in today’s era.

One of Sun Tsu’s aphorisms reinforces the risk of the short term views that our society embraces. Too frequent rewards indicate that the general is at the end of his resources; too frequent punishments that he is in acute distress.

Our era is distinguished by rewards to a few who in fact do society great harm. Huge bonuses to bankers involved in destabilizing economies is one example.  Huge incomes to drug dealers…. arms merchants security companies who profit by destabilizing society are others.  Might we add the fortunes made in pharmaceuticals that do as much or more harm as good to this list of signs that today’s system has a confused short term view?

When Merri and I lived in a remote cloud forest with a yatchak and his students for a winter… we participated in the lessons he shared with apprentices.  One day as we entered our place of study he had stacked on the table… the Bible, The Koran…the teachings of St. Germain and several of the Vedic and other religious texts.

His comment was…. “all these books belong on the book shelf together.”

The yatchak, who often conducted the Catholic Sunday sermons when a priest was not available in the small village explained why the indigenous converted easily to Catholicism.  “The principles are the same”, he said… “the Father Son and the Holy Ghost.  We have Taita Inti, Pancha Mama and Pancha Kuti”.  The Vedic traditions have three gunas or qualities of nature, sattva, rajas and tamas and their influence on beings.  Each is a form of Holy Trinity and the Yatchak found it inspiring and useful to see how they are connected rather than worry about petty ways they may differ.

So this description of the current era the Vedic texts describe as Kali Yuga in Srimad Bhagavatam 12.3.24-44 is one we often look at.

Does any of this sound familiar?

“In the age of Kali only one fourth of the religious principles remains. That last remnant will continuously be decreased by the ever-increasing principles of irreligion and will finally be destroyed.”

“In the age of Kali people tend to be greedy, ill-behaved and merciless, and they fight one another without good reason. Unfortunate and obsessed with material desires, the people of Kali-yuga are almost all sudras and barbarians. When there is a predominance of cheating, lying, sloth, sleepiness, violence, depression, lamentation, bewilderment, fear and poverty, that age is Kali, the age of the mode of ignorance. Because of the bad qualities of the age of Kali, human beings will become shortsighted, unfortunate, gluttonous, lustful and poverty-stricken. The women, becoming unchaste, will freely wander from one man to the next. Cities will be dominated by thieves, the Vedas will be contaminated by speculative interpretations of atheists, political leaders will virtually consume the citizens, and the so-called priests and intellectuals will be devotees of their bellies and genitals. The brahmacaris will fail to execute their vows and become generally unclean, the householders will become beggars, the vanaprasthas will live in the villages, and the sannyasis will become greedy for wealth.

“Women become much smaller in size, and they will eat too much, have more children than they can properly take care of, and lose all shyness. They will speak harshly and will exhibit qualities of thievery, deceit and unrestrained audacity.

“Businessmen will engage in petty commerce and earn their money by cheating. Even when there is no emergency, people will consider any degraded occupation quite acceptable. Servants will abandon a master who has lost his wealth, even if that master is a saintly person of exemplary character. Masters will abandon an incapacitated servant, even if that servant has been in the family for generations. Cows will be abandoned or killed when they stop giving milk.

“In Kali-yuga men will be wretched and controlled by women. They will reject their fathers, brothers, other relatives and friends and will instead associate with the sisters and brothers of their wives. Thus their conception of friendship will be based exclusively on sexual ties. Uncultured men will accept charity on behalf of the Lord and will earn their livelihood by making a show of austerity and wearing a mendicant’s dress. Those who know nothing about religion will mount a high seat and presume to speak on religious principles.

“In the age of Kali, people’s minds will always be agitated. They will become emaciated by famine and taxation, my dear King, and will always be disturbed by fear of drought. They will lack adequate clothing, food and drink, will be unable to properly rest, have sex or bathe themselves, and will have no ornaments to decorate their bodies. In fact, the people of Kali-yuga will gradually come to appear like ghostly, haunted creatures.

“In Kali-yuga men will develop hatred for each other even over a few coins. Giving up friendly relations, they will be ready to lose their own lives and kill even their own relatives. Men will no longer protect their elderly parents, their children or their respectable wives. Thoroughly degraded, they will care only to satisfy their own bellies and genitals.

“O King, in the age of Kali people’s intelligence will be diverted by atheism, and they will almost never offer sacrifice to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is the supreme spiritual master of the universe. Although the great personalities who control the three worlds all bow down to the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord, the petty and miserable human beings of this age will not do so.

“Terrified, about to die, a man collapses on his bed. Although his voice is faltering and he is hardly conscious of what he is saying, if he utters the holy name of the Supreme Lord he can be freed from the reaction of his fruitive work and achieve the supreme destination. But still people in the age of Kali will not worship the Supreme Lord.”

We can again see a connection between Indigenous and India philosophy.  There is a calendar coincidence between the starting dates of the long cycle of the Mayan calendar system and the Kali Yuga.  These are very long periods relating to the Earth’s journey around the sun. The four Yugas (Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga and Kali Yuga) together are held to be around 4,320,000 years in total duration.

There is a belief that the indigenous long cycle began around 3114 BCE.

Kali Yuga, also is believed to have begun its era of moral decent and spiritual bleakness, around the year 3102BCE.

This is a startling similarity.

As mentioned earlier there are also many views in both the Andean and Indian (East) tradition over when we move onto a more enlightened and positive era.

I have no clue when the change might be but actually it does not matter.  Time in terms of years is a quantum illusion anyway.  Different cycles bring different lessons and it is our individual action within our circumstances that matters.

No doubt, we are presently living in a negative cycle… more problems.  yet this creates more opportunity.  We can make positive investments. We can have fulfilling, profitable, positive businesses that help offset the negativity.

This is why we conduct courses on business and sponsor tours about both Ecuador real estate investments and export business plus Ecuador shamanic tours… both the material and the healing aspects of the Andes.

As the new age ushers in, we can be assured that more and more good will come and take its roots…changes and positivity will help to make life to be lived more as it should!  Certainly nothing to fear with these changes that will bring in this wonderful new era!

Tour Changes.

Merri’s and my business, with the help of our webmaster ,David Cross, has grown dramatically over the past several years. In 206 we had about 1,800 readers who created a nice, comfortable business for us with eight courses and tours.

Our ideas and thoughts about social economic shifts and how to advance with them have been so well received that today we have over 21,000 readers and in 2010 over 50 courses and tours.

This growth has left Merri and me gasping to keep up so as of September 1st. Jean Marie Butterlin will take over our Ecuador tour business.

To accommodate the changes the September tour dates have changed and  Jean Marie’s first Ecuador Shamanic Minga will be August 31-Sept. 1, 2010.

master carvers.

Merri and I will continue to provide input and sponsor Jean Marie’s Ecuador tours.

Jean Marie with Bonnie Keogh’s help has been conducting our Ecuador tours for quite some time so we do not envision any major changes in the tours.
